This coming Friday 27, Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 I will be tying flies and signing my new book at the Glasgow Angling Centre open weekend. Everyone that buys a copy of the book this weekend will go into a free draw to win a set of flies tied by me. Or just call in for a chat and say hello, I look forward to seeing you all there.
Heres a review by Magnus Angus from the October issue of Fly Fishing & Fly Tying magazine.
This is a ground-breaking publication, which sets the benchmark extremely high for flytying books. The use of QR codes, which the reader can scan to access an online video tutorial, is an innovative way of combining print and social media, to guide the reader step-by-step through 28 fly patterns. Each pattern in the book is accompanied by a series of clear photographs and the text as a whole features superb photography throughout. The text is concise and easy to follow, so that fly tyers (whether novice, intermediate or advanced) can all learn something from Barry Ord Clarke’s expertise. ‘The Feather Bender’s Flytying Techniques’ is undoubtedly destined to become a classic; even though I already own an extensive library of flytying books, I have no hesitation in recommending that anyone interested in the art of flytying should make room for this publication on their bookshelves. It offers superb value for money, and the skills to be learned will last a lifetime.
