This wonderful little pattern from fly tyer Mike Mercer is a great all-rounder that was originally designed as a crippled caddis fly it can be fished successfully under most hatches and conditions.

Pay special attention to the proportions and amount of material as it can be easily overdressed.

Missing Link recipe

  • Hook: Mustad R50XAP # 14
  • Tying thread: Sheer 14/0 Olive
  • Rib: Single strand of Crystal hair Pearl
  • Thorax: Peacock dub Olive
  • Spent wing: Z-Lon
  • Hackle: Light Dun
  • Wing: Bleached elk hair
