A cracking little pattern that always has a place in my trout fly box. The flat deer hair wing and foam head make it fish very realistically evan when fished static.

Barry, Once again you have raised the bar for fly tying videos. I have a question regarding tying deer/elk hair for caddis fly imitations similar to the foam and cone head caddis. No matter what I do, my elk hair tends to roll around the hook. Even if I successfully complete the fly, the hair still rolls easily around the hook. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks you,
Sparse Grey Matter
HI Tom and thanks, To avoid the rolling you have to make sure that your initial thread foundation is tight, wax your thread and when you tighten make sure that you don’t slacken off before its all tied in. Good luck.
