The Lady Mc Connell midge is an interesting, but yet straightforward tie that applies only basic materials. An effective still water pattern that represents an newly hatched adult midge fly.
Lady Mc Connell pattern recipe
- Hook: Mustad R30 # 16
- Tying thread: Sheer 14/0 Black
- Trailing shuck: Para post or Z-Lon
- Tail: Grizzle hackle tip
- Body: Superfine dubbing dark olive
- Shell back: Natural deer hair
- Hackle: Grizzle saddle
That’s an amazing looking midge dry fly and tied so perfectly! I definitely have a stream in mind for this one. I will be tying some with black and/or claret dubbing as well.
